Word of BOSTEELS : "Tripel Karmeliet is still brewed according to an authentic beer recipe dating from 1679 and coming from the former Carmelite monastery of Dendermonde. Written more than 300 years ago, this recipe describes the use of three kinds of cereals: wheat, oats and barley. The name Tripel karmeliet therefore refers both to its origin and to its refermentation in the bottle. Numerous trials of multigrain tripels carried out in our brewery in the 90s have shown that the historic combination particularity of the three kinds of cereals always remains the ideal mixture."
